Fantastic Friends is more than just an ordinary travel and adventure series – the show is full of magic and a true celebration of friendship. James and Olivier Phelps travel around the world, visiting a different country in each episode and meeting their famous friends, taking the viewers to all kinds of places around the world, including Saint Lucia, Ireland, Austria, Dubai, Iceland and Poland. James and Oliver are joined on their expeditions by actors, who starred alongside them in the Harry Potter films: Evanna Lynch, Bonnie Wright and Luke Youngblood, as well as Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Sophie Skelton and Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense).
The six-part series is a brainchild of the Emmy-nominated filmmaker Daniel Sharp and his production company – Dash Pictures. The show has been airing in Canada since June. Since July, it has been available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East on HBO Max streaming service, and starting in August New Zealanders will see it on TVNZ.
In one on his interviews, James Phelps recalls Wieliczka saying “The Wieliczka Salt Mine has made a huge impression on us – a chapel made entirely out of salt, just extraordinary. I got some bath salts there, and I believe they have some kind of magic powers, because I used to have back pain, and after using them – it's gone!"
