An unforgettable walk in the salt labyrinth

Hidden deep underground lies a treasure that many daredevils have sought over seven centuries. This treasure is salt, often called white gold. The seekers were the fearless Wieliczka Miners.
During the walk along the Tourist Route, visitors will learn about the history of the Mine from the legendary times to the present day, while discovering the salt labyrinth of underground corridors, which is full of unforgettable stories.

On the Tourist Route

  • Guests will admire landscapes that can’t be found on the surface, such as saline lakes and beautiful underground chambers, including the unique St Kinga’s Chapel.

  • The group will learn about old mining tools and machines and the methods of salt extraction and transport used in the past.

  • The tour does not require an above-average physical condition, although it is worth bearing in mind the long distance and the need to climb 800 stairs during the visit.

The Route in the structure of the Mine:

Visitors descend approx. 380 steps to level I (64 m) to enter the Mine.
The return to the surface is by lift from Level III (135 m).

  • Individual tourist

    You take part in the tour in the company of other individual tourists, the Mine is responsible for assembling a group.

  • Organised group

    If you are a member of a large group and are planning to go on the tour together. You are a tour operator.

The tour always takes place under the supervision of an experienced guide. The tour is available in Polish and selected other languages. You can find out more at: here.

Organised groups are eligible for a 10% discount on standard and discount tickets. For information on free admission and discounts for schoolchildren, please see the Tourist Route price list.

Organised groups are required to book the date and time of the visit in advance. If you want to ask about a reservation – fill in the form here.

The minimum number of tourists in a group is 10 persons. Groups of fewer than 10 persons make reservations at a cost of a 10-person group. The maximum number of tourists in a group is 20 persons. Organised groups numbering more than 20 persons will be divided into smaller groups. The number of guides assigned to a group will be decided by the Mine. Accepting the reservation for an organised group requires a deposit of 300  PLN for each booked group of up to 10 people.

The trail has no points in common with the Miners’ Route.

Open flames, electric torches, smoking cigarettes (including e-cigarettes) are prohibited in the mine.

The maximum dimensions of hand luggage which can be brought on the tour is 35cm x 20cm x 20cm. Please leave your larger luggage in the storage room, which is located on the surface near the Daniłowicz Shaft.

Your temperature will be taken before you enter the Mine. Thanks to these actions, we ensure your safety and that of other visitors. Please cover your mouth and nose with protective masks and disinfect your hands. You can find more information about the safety policy HERE.
