An unforgettable walk in the salt labyrinth

Hidden deep underground lies a treasure that many daredevils have sought over seven centuries. This treasure is salt, often called white gold. The seekers were the fearless Wieliczka Miners.
During the walk along the Tourist Route, visitors will learn about the history of the Mine from the legendary times to the present day, while discovering the salt labyrinth of underground corridors, which is full of unforgettable stories.

On the Tourist Route

  • Guests will admire landscapes that can’t be found on the surface, such as saline lakes and beautiful underground chambers, including the unique St Kinga’s Chapel.

  • The group will learn about old mining tools and machines and the methods of salt extraction and transport used in the past.

  • The tour does not require an above-average physical condition, although it is worth bearing in mind the long distance and the need to climb 800 stairs during the visit.
