His books have been set in Paris, Venice, Florence and St. Petersburg. Who knows, perhaps in a future novel, the protagonists will descend deep underground? Steve Berry, one of the most prolific American writers, visited the Wieliczka Mine.

Berry made his debut with The Amber Room, which was an immediate bestseller. The author's subsequent books have continued his excellent streak. They have appeared on the publishing markets of 51 countries and have been translated into 40 languages. The combined printing volume of his novels has exceeded 15 million copies. The fast-paced action of Berry's books is mixed with a huge amount of historical knowledge, so it was no surprise that during this underground visit, he was most interested in the history of the Wieliczka mine.

The author peppered the guide with questions about the smallest details of the history of the salt realm – he noted down facts, dates and names.

Privately, the author collects figures of turtles, so it is no wonder than he noticed the salt turtle carved by the Wieliczka miner-sculptors – he received it as a gift and took it home as a souvenir. The guest also left his signatures in the commemorative Guest Book.
