Starting on the 9th of March after the winter break, the graduation tower – a valued and loved place for family walks – will reopen. Come and breathe in some healthy air!


This year’s Barbórka was celebrated by the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine miners on the 3rd of December. There was a solemn mass in St Kinga’s Chapel, as well as ceremony, during which distinguished employees of the Wieliczka mine were honoured.


UNESCO has launched a web platform dedicated to World Heritage and sustainable tourism – “UNESCO World Heritage Journeys”.


The Wieliczka mine ended the last year with a record number of 1.7 million visitors. Will 2018 be better? The results for the first five months of the year show that this will indeed be the case. By the end of May, the historic underground was visited by 598,500 tourists, which is 46,600 more than in the corresponding period of 2017.


The OFF CAMERA International Festival of Independent Cinema is now behind us. The festival competitions attracted many prominent guests from the film industry to Krakow. Some of them could be seen on the salt trail.


Tourists visiting the Wieliczka mine already have the opportunity to see the “The Amazing World of Salt” exhibition of photographs by Ryszard Tatomir. The exhibition consists of 40 photographs that show the magic of the historic salt monument.


The Wieliczka mine has worked for many years with the Off Camera Foundation, the organiser of the International Festival of Independent Cinema NETIA OFF CAMERA. This year, the 11th edition of the festival will take place in Krakow between the 27th of April and the 6th of May. The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine has become a Local Partner of the event.


An atmosphere of reflection, melancholy and a profound experience of the events of Holy Week accompanied the concert that took place in the Wieliczka underground as part of the Misteria Paschalia Festival.


The miners’ band performed in their full glory in the enchanting Jan Haluszka Chamber, located 135 m underground.


The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine ended 2017 with an all-time record in the number of tourists – 1,708,131 people – and over 350 events organised in the mine. What is more, the Wessel Spa Chamber was made available to patients after renovation.
