BEDEKR is a show in which well-known Czech actors present suggestions for a special trip to their countrymen. This time, the whole seventh season will be devoted to Poland. Twelve episodes will be produced and broadcast on Czech public TV. The showrunners took up the task of showing Czechs that they don’t have to go far for an unforgettable holiday. It’s enough that they cross the Polish–Czech border. Similar shows were filmed in other countries in previous years.
The first episode was filmed in mid-December 2019 in Wrocław, then in Jelenia Góra, Poznań, the Tri-City, and then the actors travelled around the Podlaskie Voivodeship. In September 2020, filming took place in Katowice, Krakow, and finally at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine. The seven-person crew, featuring the main star, Martin Pisarik, went on a guided tour accompanied by our guide, Renata, who crosses the salt labyrinth on a daily basis with tourists from Czechia. She welcomed them with the words “God Bless! Welcome to the salt mine!”
Next, we heard, “Quiet on the set! Lights... Camera... Action!” The Tourist Route became the main protagonist of the show for a few hours. The crew were delighted and amazed, especially by St Kinga’s Chapel, the heart of the mine. St Anthony’s Chapel, the Janowice Chamber, the Barącz Chamber with the 9-metre salt lake, the ascent in the lift – all these things cast their charm on the visitors. We were happy to host the Czech television crew 135 metres underground. In previous seasons, the show presented countries including Austria, France, Germany and Italy, showing the locations in a colourful and picturesque way. We are impatiently awaiting the episode featuring the Salt Kingdom.
Each episode is 26 minutes long. The season will be broadcast by the largest Czech public media, channel two of Czech TV, in 2021. Each episode is viewed by about 400,000 people. The visit of the Czech TV crew was organised in cooperation with the Polish Tourist Organisation.
