The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine was visited by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda. The exceptional guests met in the salt underground with the President of Slovakia, who is coming to the end of his term of office.
The President was interested to hear about the mine in Wieliczka, which is not only a unique monument included on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites, but also one of the oldest continuously operating European companies.
The guests could not hide their fascination with the salt underground, and they promised to return to Wieliczka. As the centuries-old tradition dictates, they also left their signatures in the commemorative Visitors' Book and listened to a short concert of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine Representative Brass Band.
The Slovak presidential couple came to Poland for a farewell visit. During the meeting in the Wieliczka underground, President Andrzej Duda awarded Andrei Kiska with the Order of the White Eagle. In return, the Slovak President awarded the Polish President with the highest state award in Slovakia.
