Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński at the Mine

The Wieliczka Mine was visited by Piotr Gliński, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The guest was guided along the Tourist Route by Zbigniew Zarębski, President of Kopalnia Soli “Wieliczka” SA.
The Wieliczka underground intrigued the Deputy Prime Minister. He was greatly impressed by the Chapel of St Kinga and the scope of the underground world. He listened attentively to stories about the history and the present of the salt historical monument, which is not only a tourist attraction, but also a place of cultural events. Exhibitions, concerts, opera galas, theatrical performances and open-air film screenings – the mine is a true cultural salon.
In the Jan Haluszka II Chamber, the guest expressed his appreciation for the miners’ work by signing the Visitors’ Book. As a memento of his stay in Wieliczka, he received a salt sculpture carved by sculptor miners.
