Medal for "Salt of Life"

The Mine was awarded the European Medal, which was received by Tomasz Jachna, a Member of the Management Board for Financial and Economic Matters of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine S.A. during the Award Gala ceremony in the Grand Theatre in Warsaw.

The jury was impressed by the multimedia exhibition in the Lill Gorna and Kazanow chambers. The Business Centre Club awards the European Medal for products and services that meet European standards. The Centre distinguishes dynamic companies that successfully compete with foreign companies and are the best showcase of the Polish economy.

The "Salt of Life" exhibition complements and extends the knowledge which guests receive during their visit along the Tourist Route. More than 20 applications introduce tourists, among others, to the fields of paleobotany, archaeology, history, geology, chemistry, physics, culture, and finally ancient and modern mining techniques.

A unique way for developing the mined space in the Lill Gorna Chamber is the 5D cinema. The side wall of the Kazanow Chamber serves as a screen for the one-and-only in the world underground mapping. The project was co-financed from EU funds.
