Rules for visitors - Graduation Tower

There are a few rules that will allow you to visit the graduation tower safely and with greater comfort. It is worthwhile to know these rules before arriving to the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine.


The graduation tower is located in the vicinity of the Danilowicz Shaft through which tourists enter the undergrounds of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine

Recommended time at the tower – 30 minutes. However, your visit is only limited by the opening hours of the facility

Visiting the graduation tower is allowed without the company and assistance of a guide. The number of persons allowed at one time on the viewing platform is limited. Entrance to the viewing platform and the observation tower depends on the availability of free places

No prior booking is necessary

The area of the graduation tower is adapted for persons physically challenged and persons in need of assistance or on wheelchairs with the exception of the viewing platforms and the observation tower where it is necessary to climb a staircase

Children up to 4 years of age visit free of charge

Pets are not allowed in the graduation tower area except for guide dogs of blind and visually impaired persons. The Mine has no facilities where you could leave your pet for a while

Bicycles are not allowed within the premises of the graduation tower. You may leave your bike nearby at the bike stand in the parking lot of the Mine.

Baggage can be left in the baggage room located close to the tourist information point. 1. Bringing luggage to the premises of the graduation tower is not allowed with the exception of hand baggage. Hand baggage is considered to be luggage of maximum dimensions 35cm x 20cm x 20cm. Larger backpacks, bags, suitcases should be left in coaches and cars or taken to the luggage room located in the area of descending into the mine.

Smoking within the area of the graduation tower is strictly prohibited. This rule also concerns smoking e-cigarettes and using open file

An ATM is available in the Mine and payment cards are accepted in ticket booths and numerous shops: American Express, VISA, MasterCard, VISA Electron and Maestro. A currency exchange office in the Danilowicz Shaft is opened all-year round between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm

Especially in cases justified by safety reasons as well as technical and organisation issues caused, amongst other, by atmospheric conditions that make it impossible for persons to stay in the said area or may interfere with technological processes, especially during the winter period, it is possible to close the graduation tower or introduce any other restrictions regarding visiting the area
